Oriental Cat Rescue
Helping Oriental Shorthairs and Oriental Longhairs in Crisis

Oriental Breed Rescue is a network of Oriental breeders, fanciers, foster homes and rescue groups all over the country that make ourselves available to the local shelters, humane societies and veterinarian offices so that should an Oriental come to one of these facilities in crisis. Our mission is to ensure that Oriental cats that have been abandoned or abused end up in very happy homes. We feel that our breed is very intelligent and sensitive, and like all cats, deserves the best treatment possible by their owners.

The qualifications are strict about adopting one of our Oriental cats  in rescue:  we do not want an Oriental cat  who has already gone through the stress of abandonment and home change to go to yet another home that might not work out. Potential families are screened carefully and we request references before placement. Our adopted cats are not allowed to roam outside, not declawed, receive regular veterinary care for life, and all rescues are spayed and neutered before placement.

SURRENDERING AN ORIENTAL CAT:
If for any reason during the life of your Oriental  you are faced with having to place it, please contact the breeder that sold you your cat first. Do NOT place your Oriental cat  in a shelter, leave it outside, sell it to a laboratory or give it to someone who may not take exceptionally good care of this cat and enjoys and understands out breed.

FOUND AN ORIENTAL CAT?
Should an Oriental cat ever end up in rescue, we will try to trace the breeder and hopefully work with them to make the rest of the cat's life the very best that it can be.

If you think you have found an Oriental cat or have one in your shelter or humane society, please do not hesitate to contact us for help in breed identification and assistance with the cat.

If you are interested in owning an Oriental cat, we strongly urge you to contact a reputable breeder in your area.

Please contact us should you have any questions about current rescues. We do not keep waiting lists so check back often for the availability of Oriental cat  rescues. We never know when an Oriental will end up in need and the availability can change daily.
